GoHighLevel Freelancer Job Post Template for Upwork and Fiverr

Copy this GoHighLevel freelancer job post for Upwork or Fiverr. Then screen proposals, run a paid test task and plan milestones, with current platform fees.

A small real estate business described a Fiverr hire on r/gohighlevel that broke a working account. The owner had two drip text workflows running and wanted one thing added: a filter for landlines and bad numbers. The "GoHighLevel expert" built carrier lookup webhooks and new custom fields. Afterward every contact got tagged as a landline or error, and follow-ups kept going to people who had already replied. The two workflows, in the owner's words, "were working before the 'expert' touched them."

My guess is that the brief never said what had to keep working, or how the freelancer would prove it still did. The job post below says both.

To hire a good GoHighLevel freelancer on Upwork or Fiverr, post outcomes and required proof, screen applicants with five questions, pay for one small test task, then release money by milestone. Platform fees are small next to a bad hire. Upwork charges clients up to 7.99% on its Basic plan, or 3% for eligible US clients paying from a bank account. Fiverr adds 5.5%, plus $3.50 on orders under $200. I checked both help pages on October 14, 2026.

What does a good GoHighLevel job post say?

Fill the brackets and paste it into Upwork. On Fiverr, send it in a message and ask for a custom offer.

Title: GoHighLevel freelancer needed to build [outcome] for a [industry] business

About us: [One sentence: what you sell, where, team size.]

Where we are today:
- HighLevel plan: [Starter / Unlimited / Agency Pro]
- Existing workflows: [none / about N, built by someone else]
- Texting (A2P) status: [not started / pending / approved / rejected]
- Tools to connect: [list]

What we need built:
1. [Outcome, e.g. every form lead gets a text within 1 minute and a task for a rep]
2. [Outcome, e.g. appointment confirmations, reminders and no-show follow-up]
3. [Outcome]

What must keep working:
- [List the workflows, forms and calendars that work today]
- Proof that they still work after your changes

Proof required for every deliverable:
- A test contact run through each path, with the execution log shared
- A booking made through each calendar
- A one-page map of folders and workflows

Access: you get a user seat with the permissions you need. We do not share the owner login.

In your first message, answer these:
1. How will you test before anything touches a real lead?
2. What happens when the same contact enters a workflow twice?
3. What do you check after copying workflows from another account?
4. How will the next person find things in this account?
5. What do you need from us before we can text leads?

Budget: [fixed price per milestone / hourly range]. A paid test task comes first.

Upwork's own hiring page tells clients to describe the current environment, the deliverables and the success criteria, and to ask how candidates test triggers, tags, forms, calendars and payment steps. The template does the same, with the questions written down in advance.

The booking line is there because of one of my own builds. A calendar had empty open hours, so nobody could book from the chat bot or the website. GoHighLevel returned no error. It simply offered zero days, and only a real test booking showed it.

How do you read the proposals?

Cut any proposal that skips the five questions. Score the rest with this table.

QuestionA good answer sounds likeA bad answer sounds like
TestingA do-not-disturb test contact, one run per branch, the log sent to you"I always test everything"
Re-entry"I check the re-entry setting on each workflow, so returning customers are not blocked""What do you mean?"
Copying"Steps that add or remove contacts from other workflows keep the old account's IDs, so I re-map them""Copy and paste works fine"
StructureOne folder per pipeline stage, plain names, a one-page map"I name them as I go"
TextingLegal name and EIN from the IRS letter, privacy and terms pages, an opt-in form, and a plan to build while approval is pending"Texting works out of the box"

The copying answer matters more than it looks. On one of my builds, cloned workflows still pointed at the source account's workflow IDs and failed without an error.

Also watch for freelancers who want to start editing at once. In the Florida mortgage account I inherited, I counted all 281 workflows before changing anything.

After a migration, saving a trigger in the editor erases orphan IDs, which destroys the evidence of what was broken. A good applicant asks for an inventory or a scan first. My longer checklist for hiring a GoHighLevel expert covers this in detail.

What is a good paid test task?

Pick one workflow that matters and keep it small. A new form lead gets a text and an email within a minute, a task is created for a rep, and the stage moves. If there is no reply after a day, a nudge goes out.

Pay for it as its own fixed-price job. The deliverables are the workflow, one booking made through your calendar, and the execution log of a test contact through every path. If the log is missing, the task is not done. I explain how to read those logs in how I test GoHighLevel workflows.

What does the milestone plan look like, and what do fees add?

Use funded milestones for fixed-price work. Upwork says funds are held and released when you approve each stage. Fiverr's payment help says each milestone is charged separately as you approve it. Here is the plan I would use:

Four milestones for a GoHighLevel freelancer: access and inventory, a paid test task, the build in slices, and handoff, each approved before payment is released.
The four milestones I would use, each paid after you approve it.
  1. Access and inventory: a user seat, a count of workflows by folder, active versus draft.
  2. The paid test task.
  3. The build in slices, each paid when its test log passes.
  4. Handoff: the map, a short recorded walkthrough and a named fix window.

Fees are on top of each milestone. Upwork freelancers also pay their own fee, 0% to 15% per contract, fixed once the contract starts. Here is what the client side adds, based on the help pages as of October 14, 2026:

PlatformFee the client paysOn a $1,000 milestone
UpworkUp to 7.99%, or 3% with an eligible US bank accountUp to $79.90, or $30
Fiverr5.5%, plus $3.50 under $200$55

For what the work itself costs, see how much a GoHighLevel expert costs. If the job needs custom code, post it as a GoHighLevel developer job. Before texting begins, read my notes on GoHighLevel A2P registration.
